Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Alberta, Canada, and then moved to Katy, Texas.

What High School did you attend?

I attended Tompkins High School.

What was your favorite extracurricular activity in high school?

I was in my school’s FRC robotics team, and I spent 4 years on helping program our robot to compete in the FRC competitions.

Why did you come to UT?

I came to UT because it is nearby, making it convenient and cheaper than out-of-state options, but also has a great CS program.

Why are you majoring in CS?

Ever since I took my first CS class in the first year of High School, I have been in love with programming. I love the problem solving aspect of Computer Science, which pushes you to find new solutions to problems you come across.

Why are you in this class?

I am in this class because while I have used generics in programming before, I want to learn more about them so that I can use them better in the future.

What are your expectations of this class?

I expect to expand my knowledge in generic programming and its uses, and be able to gain practical experience as well.

How much C++ do you already know?

I have worked with C++ before for another class, but I have not used it in a while, so I need a refresher on it.

How much Javascript/Python/SQL/Web programming do you already know?

I took SWE with Downing last semester, so I know quite a bit from what was taught in class, as well as doing the project.

How did you like the first lecture?

I thought that Professor Downing really made the class feel engaging for me and explained the course very thoroughly.

How did you feel about the cold calling?

After taking a class with Downing last semester, I am totally cool with it, as it really is more of a way for Downing to teach the course in an interactive way, and you really shouldn’t feel any pressure about whether you know the answers to questions or not.

What made you happy this week?

I got a job recently, which I am really happy about!

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

Go out and enjoy the summer weather! I went hiking with my roommates this weekend, and we had a blast.
