- What did you do this past week?
This week, I worked on Collatz — I got it done pretty easily, since I had done it before for a previous class. In my other classes, I also just finished up my first projects for those classes as well.
- What’s in your way?
Right now, the workload isn’t too bad, so I’m trying to do well in my classes while I can. One thing that is kind of annoying is that for this class, we use Docker, and in another class, we are using Virtual Box. These two pieces of software require windows hypervisor to be either on or off, which means that if I want to work on projects for both classes, I need to change a windows setting every time. It’s really annoying and I don’t have a great workaround for it yet — right now I’m ssh’ed into the lab machines and doing my OOP projects there.
- What will you do next week?
Next week, I’m eager to see what sorts of things we will learn after finishing going over Collatz, and what kinds of projects we will be working on for this class.
- If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #3: Continuos Integration?
I read the paper, and I think that Continuous Integration is an amazing tool that everybody should be using. I’m glad that people are being introduced to it early, before going off into jobs and having to learn how it works there.
- What was your experience of IsPrime and Collatz optimizations? (this question will vary, week to week)
I had already done the exercise and the project in previous classes, so they were pretty easy for me. I ended up using a meta cache for Collatz, which passes the Hackerrank tests pretty easily with a reasonable cache size.
- What made you happy this week?
This week, I started playing a game called Outer Wilds, and it’s amazing. It’s a story driven exploration game about space, and I won’t go into more detail to avoid spoilers, but I would highly recommend this game.
- What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
My tip this week is to go to the CS career fair coming up. It’s a great opportunity to find internships or jobs!
