What did you do this past week?
This past week, our group started working on the next phase of the project. As I am working on the frontend of our project, I started on the searching and filtering capabilities of our website. In addition, I am also working on cleaning up and making the site look nicer in general.
What’s in your way?
Right now, I am actually doing pretty well in my classes, and there is not much in my way. With the extended deadline for this project, I am feeling pretty good about my classes. One issue we have with the project is the highlighting of search terms, but we are working on figuring that out.
What will you do next week?
Next week, I will finish up the next part of the project, which we are already a decent amount done with. Outside of class, I am applying for the CS 5-year BS/MS program, which I hope that I will get into.
If you read it, what did you think of the Why getter and setter methods are evil?
I thought that this paper was another one that really showed me that there are a lot of ways to improve my coding habits. All of the papers recently have been on dangerous or unhealthy programming practices, all of which I am guilty of.
What was your experience of select, project, cross join and theta join? (this question will vary, week to week)
Similar to last week, I had not had very much experience at all, and learning about it in lecture was very informational. I will probably need to take a look by myself to familiarize myself with them in addition to what we talked about in class.
What made you happy this week?
This week, I felt happy about getting good progress on our project. I feel a lot better about this part of the project than the last few, as we are already almost done.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
My pick-of-the-week is to practice hackerrank problems or leetcode when getting ready for coding interviews. I wish that I had done more practice, as there were problems that I wasn’t completely ready for in some of mine.
