What did you do this past week?

This past week, our SWE group has mostly taken a break from the project. We plan on starting working on our video soon. Personally, I have been taking it a little bit easier before finals start.

What’s in your way?

Right now, nothing is in my way, but soon I will have to start spending a lot of time studying for finals. Hopefully I can get through all of them fine, but I am ready to use COVID pass/fails just in case I need to.

What will you do next week?

Next week, I will be spending some time working on the last bit of our project, and our presentation. Also, I will be finishing up my application to the 5-year BS/MS program, which I am hoping to get into.

If you read it, what did you think of the What Happens to Us Does Not Happen to Most of You?

This paper was very similar to one of the first ones we read, about the treatment of women in silicon valley. It really is a tragedy that these types of things occur so often in our lives.

What was your experience of joins and refactoring?

The have had no previous SQL experience before this class, so joins were completely new to me. Refactoring was something that I had experience with. In previous classes, I’ve had to comment my code, and when I did that, sometimes I would do some refactoring.

What made you happy this week?

This week, one of my friends from Houston came to Austin and visited for a week. I got to spend a lot of time with him, who I do not get to see often. We had a lot of fun, and I can’t wait until we will be able to go outside normally again.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

Get a good night’s sleep! Recently I’ve been staying up pretty late, and its starting to really affect me. Sounds stupid but getting sleep is really important, school should be second to health.
